33rd Annual MS Gala Luncheon Raises Nearly $600,000 to Accelerate

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s 33rd -Annual MS Gala Luncheon celebration was held on Friday, January 22, 2016 at the Broward County Convention Center. The event raised nearly $600,000 to advance innovative research and treatments, accelerating progress toward a world free of MS.
Nearly 900 guests from the tri-county area attended the prestigious
philanthropic event, presented by The National Multiple Sclerosis Society,
South Florida Chapter.

Since its inception, the MS Gala Luncheon has raised 6.7 million dollars to
help the National MS Society fund cutting-edge research, drive change
through advocacy, facilitate professional education and provide programs and
services designed for the 7,500 people with MS and their families in South
Florida.

This year’s MS Hope Award honoree was David P. Samson, President of the
Miami Marlins. The event was chaired by Ila Feld Davidoff, along with Vice
Chairs Alberto Ibargüen, Commissioner Robert D. Manfred, Jr. and David B.
Schulman.

The luncheon included a cocktail reception, fashion show, and silent auction
and raffle prices. Mayda Cisneros, one of Miami’s renowned fashion
designers and a supporter of the NMSS brought her fashion show to the event.
She impressed all guests with the debut of her Spring 2016 collection for
women. Her new Coral Gables atelier showcases ready-to-wear designs, as
well as cocktail, eveningwear, bridal, and custom couture.

“MS is a cause dear to David, which affects his family personally,” stated
Karen Schneier Dresbach, Chapter President of the National MS Society,
South Florida Chapter. “It is heartwarming for the National MS Society to
honor this wonderful community leader who continues to put those in need in
the forefront of everything he does.”
