NEIGHBORS4NEIGHBORS Presents “Night on the Water” Celebrating 23 Years

Neighbors 4 Neighbors celebrated 23 years of connecting South Floridians by honoring six community leaders on Saturday July 25th at the Bahia Cabana Resort on Fort Lauderdale Beach.

 
The honorees were:
Renee Lopez-Cantera, the Miami Herald’s Audience Growth and Initiatives Manager, who has served as a board member of the New World School of the Arts and the United Way Health Council;
Charles Caulkins, a partner at the law firm Fisher and Phillips, is the Chairman of the Broward Workshop and past Chair of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce;
Danet Linares, Vice Chairman of Blanca Commerical Real Estate, is a board member of Habitat for Humanity and the Miami Downtown Development Authority;

Chad Moss, Executive Vice President of Moss Construction, is a board member of HANDY and the Florida International University Foundation;
John Scincariello, is the owner of John The Baker Restaurant in Pembroke Pines and was recently awarded “Corporate Citizen of the Year” by Nova Southeastern University for his volunteerism with dozens of organizations;
Elaine Miceli-Vasquez, a community volunteer, has served as a board of director for a dozen non-profit boards including the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society, Community Foundation of Broward and March of Dimes.

 
Neighbors 4 Neighbors, originally created in 1992 in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew by WFOR-TV, CBS4 and the Fort Lauderdale Jaycees, the relief effort “Rebuilding: Neighbors Helping Neighbors,” consisted of a 15-line phone bank. This community effort was staffed 18 hours daily with volunteers and station personnel. The initial response was overwhelming and the phone bank quickly became a tool in assisting those in crisis. During the past two decades, the 501c3 non-profit organization Neighbors has become an important resource for all individuals and families facing every-day crises.

 
Today, Neighbors 4 Neighbors has expanded its services beyond hurricane relief and evolved into one of the most effective vehicles for connecting those in need with those who can help, forging a strong relationship with community and business leaders willing to tackle difficult issues. Neighbors has launched a website for volunteers, www.helpingfeelsgood.org in addition to supporting South Florida community initiatives.
