The Friends of MODS Runway Star Fashion Bazaar at the
Museum of Discovery and Science welcomed guests to a Fashion Night Out on Wednesday, May 8, 2013. Chaired by Friends of MODS member, Diana Chibas, with the support of Friends President Janet Buhl and the Friends board, the second floor balcony at the Museum provided guests with a spectacular setting to start the evening with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.
Approximately 125 attendees stepped out in style enjoying makeovers by Smashbox, pampering facials by Philosophy and a high energy designer fashion show by Macy’s Aventura, featuring this summer’s best in fashion by Vince Camuto, Michael Kors, Karen Kane and Tommy Bahama. Guests in attendance were able to shop for any last minute Mother’s Day gifts as they visited the various vendors during cocktail hour and even had the chance to purchase fashions right off the runway.
“The Fashion Bazaar is a great opportunity for Friends of MODS, new and old, to visit and support the Museum,” said President and CEO, Kim Cavendish. “Proceeds raised from this year’s event will help benefit the Museum’s Transition to Independent Living Program (TIL), which provides employment and mentoring for youth as they age out of the foster care system.”
TIL, founded in 2007, provides paid internships that provide on-the job training and mentoring, to help participants acquire skills for self-sufficiency. The program provides much needed support to young people who come of age in the foster care system. For more information on the Museum visit www.mods.org.
