The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Announces 2018 Celebrity Cruises Man & Woman of the Year Winners

Two Broward community leaders have been named this year’s Celebrity Cruises Fort Lauderdale Man & Woman of the Year by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Southern Florida Chapter at the June 9^th Grand Finale at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa.

Tim Hogans, Florida Power & Light Company and Michelle Homoky, Celebrity Cruises along with five other Broward candidates, raised over $540,000 to support LLS’s goal to find cures for blood cancers and ensure that patients have access to lifesaving treatments and support services.

Candidates and their campaign teams were judged solely on fundraising success, each dollar counting as one vote. Their totals are then considered for the national title. Candidates in 56 LLS chapters across the country vie for the local title, and the highest fundraisers earn the title of National Man & Woman of the Year. The national titles will be awarded to the top fundraisers in the country, to be announced this summer.

Hogans and Homoky ran spirited 10-week campaigns in honor of and were inspired by cancer survivors, Fort Lauderdale Boy of the Year, Tristan Balea, 10, and Girl of the Year, Sarita Moreno, age 18. Both Tristan and Sarita had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and both are in remission and doing well.
