2012 Community Impact Awards Luncheon

Impact Broward’s 2013 Community Impact Awards Luncheon was held on October 4, 2013 at the Renaissance Hotel in Plantation. More than 255 people attended the event to honor the impact volunteers make in our community. This year Impact Broward volunteers were nominated for Public Service Awards for their dedication, service and contribution of time by Impact Broward’s partnering nonprofit organizations. A nomination review committee chose Mary Alexander, a foster grandparent volunteer, for her service to children, Charles Vrane, a RSVP volunteer,  for his service to nonprofits and Gilma Ocasio, a senior companion volunteer, for her service to adults.  In addition to Impact Broward volunteers being honored, individuals, nonprofit organizations and companies in our community were selected as awardees.
Humana received the Corporate Partnership Award for their long time commitment to Impact Broward and their generous ongoing support to our organization as well as their ongoing  educational workshops on a variety of topics to improve the lives of our volunteers. United Way of Broward County was awarded the Nonprofit Partnership Award for their commitment to nonprofit organizations throughout Broward County for the past 75 years. June and John McCarthy received the Edith S. Lederberg Wisdom in Action Award for their leadership in advocacy on behalf of seniors. Connie McKenzie received the Individual Award for her ongoing support to the Foster Grandparent Program through her involvement with the Evelyn McPherson Foundation. Commissioner Lois Wexler received the Public Official Service Award for her ongoing commitment to improving the lives of children and elderly residents of Broward County.
