LifeNet4Families’ 33rd Anniversary Gala Recognizes Broward’s Hidden Gems.

On Saturday, October 6th, LifeNet4Families celebrated 33 years of providing food and other basic needs to thousands of individuals and families experiencing hardship.  More than 150 community leaders and supporters attended the gala, which was held at Pier 66 Hotel & Marina in Fort Lauderdale.  This memorable evening was presented by returning sponsor, Girleen Kenny, a true ambassador for the mission of LifeNet4Families.  Thomas Family Foundation, First Presbyterian Church, Holy Cross Hospital, JM Family Enterprises, Inc., Newell Brands, Transworld Business Advisors, Kaufman / Rossin, Will Spencer, and Insight Institute were among the top sponsors. More than $83,000 was raised to support the mission.

“Together, we have the power to make sure that the most vulnerable among us–children, seniors, people with disabilities and pets, have enough food to eat and the resources to help them overcome poverty-related conditions.”, said Dr. Melanie Geddes, President and CEO.  Community members and organizations were recognized for their selfless efforts to improve the lives of the less fortunate in our community.  Most notably, Calvin Hughes, Co-Anchor, WPLG Local 10 News received the Community Impact award.  Betty Davis, Chief Meteorologist, WPLG Local 10 News served as the Mistress of Ceremonies. Tom Joyner, host of the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show gave an impassioned plea encouraging guests to support the organization financially and in service, by volunteering.

A poignant testimonial from one of LifeNet4Families clients gave way to a spirited, live auction of pallets of food.  The organization is just a few pallets away from reaching a record setting goal.  Pallets or half-pallets can be purchased for $250/$125 by calling 954 792 2EAT (2328) or online: www.lifenet4families.org

The Board of Directors and dedicated staff are deeply grateful for this community’s demonstration of support.  With the holiday season fast approaching much work remains to be done. Please consider donating and/or volunteering.
