The Art and Culture Center/Hollywood raises over $67,000 during the 22ndAnnual Cuisine for Art fundraiser at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino 

The Art and Culture Center/Hollywood celebrated its 22nd Annual Cuisine for Art fundraiser at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood on Thursday, May 16, 2019. The event surpassed budget projections and raised over $67,000 for the Center’s arts programs. This year’s honoree was Pulitzer Prize winning humorist and NY Times best-selling writer Dave Barry.  

Nearly 300 guests attended this year’s soiree and enjoyed a cocktail reception, followed by a three-course dinner. Attendees bid on auction items such as a three-night stay at Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya (Mexico) including JetBlue round-trip tickets,a ride aboard the world-famous Goodyear Blimp, and two 5-course dinner parties complete with wine for eight people catered by Anthony Billisi of Mimi’s Ravioli, who just recently competed on the Food Network’s show Bake You Rich. The event, which featured a special performance from Dueling Pianos, was highlighted with the Center’s recognition of Dave Barry.

Cuisine for Art features elected officials and community leaders serving as Celebrity Waiters during an exciting and entertaining evening. Cuisine for Art Event Chair was Susan Renneisen. Co-chairs were Jules Meyer and Anna Smith. Auction Chair was Vicki Ferrara.

About Honoree Dave Barry:

Dave Barry is an award-winning author and humor columnist. For many years, he wrote a syndicated newspaper column that appeared in more than 500 newspapers in the US and abroad. In 1988, Barry won the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary while at The Miami Herald.  Barry has written more than 30 books, including the novels Big Trouble, Lunatics, Tricky Business and, most recently, Insane City. He has also written a number of non-fiction books such as I’ll Mature When I’m Deadand Best. State.
