Darrell Gwynn Foundation Donates $60,000 Custom Power Wheelchair at VIP White Party with Special Guest Vanilla Ice

On October 10th, The Darrell Gwynn Foundation hosted its annual gala at Passion Nightclub at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. This year’s gala, the “VIP White Party”, featured special guest, rapper and television personality, Vanilla Ice. The event was hosted by RockWithU Entertainment and was presented by the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino – Hollywood and Passion Nightclub, Setnor-Byer Family Foundation, DMR Corporation, Van Kirk & Sons, and GSD Contracting. All proceeds from the event benefit the Darrell Gwynn Foundation whose mission is to provide support people with paralysis and prevent spinal cord injuries.

At the event, the Darrell Gwynn Foundation, on behalf of its donors and supporters, presented a brand new $60,000 custom power wheelchair to David Humes of Melbourne, FL. David, who sustained a very high level spinal cord injury during a diving accident, received the most expensive wheelchair the foundation has ever donated. The wheelchair, which will stand David up to improve his health and circulation, and is driven with a system called a head array, will allow David to be more active in the lives of his 3 daughters. Following the event, David thanked everyone for their support, “I was truly blessed to have had the opportunity to spend invaluable evening with you all! I don’t quite know how to thank you – but please know that I am truly grateful for all your efforts. This chair will greatly impact my life and that of my family’s. It has only been a couple days and I can already see how the chair will correct the spinal scoliosis I have previously developed. I am truly honored to be in your circle of recipients.”

The event was hosted and DJ’d by Rock With U Entertainment. Host, Ross Bielejeski, lifted a spirited crowd to support the Darrell Gwynn Foundation’s Wheelchair Donation Program through a “Give the Gift of Mobility” auction giving donors an opportunity to purchase a wheelchair or parts of wheelchairs to support the program. The “VIP White Party” was a huge success and wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our very special guest, Vanilla Ice, who performed a few songs for party-goers, including his hit “Ice Ice Baby.”
