Home Run Sponsors included Cardiovascular Specialists of South Florida, Florida’s Greatest Barber Shop, Fox Sports Florida, Gold Coast Schools, Laurie Kardon’s Phanatics, Lee’s Locksmith and Bicycle, Miami HEAT, Miami Marlins, NSU’s Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship, Skye McSweeney, Roger Dean Stadium, Sporty Mammas and Shannon Stewart.
Congratulations to Fox Sports Florida, the winning team; Linda Thomas with a 181, top female; Lou Arslanian with a 224, top male; Lee’s Locksmith and Bicycle, best dressed; and NSU’s Huizenga School, most enthusiastic.
Cliff Floyd started his Foundation to help keep kids off the streets and encourage them to become productive citizens. Although Cliff is originally from Chicago, he chose to “retire” to South Florida which became his home even when he was traded from the Marlins and played with other teams. Cliff stated, “This year’s tournament was bigger and better and it was great to have three lanes of RBI kids bowling with us. South Florida is where my family and I work and play. We feel that it is important that we give back to the community.”
Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) is a youth program offering children ages 13-18, who live in disadvantaged areas, the opportunity to participate in organized baseball. This program is designed to promote interest in baseball, academic achievement and social responsibility in underserved and disadvantaged areas of South Florida. Additionally, students from Nova Southeastern University’s Department of Sport and Recreation Management helped plan and produce the event. The event provides a great learning experience for the students!

This year’s committee included Cliff Floyd, Mary Floyd, Craig Mish, Nancy Olson, Dr. Peter Finley, Dr. Jeffrey Fountain, Olivia Floyd Wynne and Michael Wynne.
