On February 11 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) celebrated its upcoming April 26 annual Walk Like MADD & MADD Dash Fort Lauderdale 5K with a kick-off party at ArtServe in Fort Lauderdale. The party brought a record number of attendees for the organization, which since its establishment in 2011 has raised more than $400,000 to date for MADD Broward & Palm Beach.During the “pep rally” for the April 5K, guests and sponsors enjoyed “mock-tails” created by La Croix, bites from BRIO Tuscan Grille, and music from Michael “DJ 1 Tre” Marino. Silent auction items and raffle ticket sales raised more than $6000.The messages of community, enforcement and justice were reinforced with emotional and powerful speeches by MADD chairwoman Heather Geronemus, 2015’s honorary chairman Broward Sherriff Office’s Colonel Pollock, and DUI Task Force members Sergeant Nicoletti and Lieutenant Fitzgerald.Sponsors included Ultimate Software, La Croix, ADT Always Cares, Yellow Cab, SunTrust, Festival Flee Market, Westside Towing and Broward Sheriff’s Office.
