The Art of Drag raised over $10,000 for

the Art and Culture Center/Hollywood

The Art and Culture Center/Hollywood’s fundraiser, The Art of Drag, was a huge success, raising over $10,000 for the first-year event. The event was held on Thursday, September 19 at Lips in Fort Lauderdale. Guests enjoyed a wonderful dinner and amazing performances by both professional drag queens as well as friends of the Center — Kara Lundgren, John Mabry, Oscar Llorente, and a special guest performance by Michael Dean as Cher. In all, over 180 guests packed the room for this sold-out fundraiser.

“It was an amazing experience and event that raised a lot of money for an organization that is very dear to my heart,” said John Mabry, Board Chair of the Art and Culture Center/Hollywood, and performer at the event. John performed songs from Whitney Houston while his fans showered him and the other performers with tips, all which went to the Center.

Board Vice Chair Oscar Llorente also performed, dressed up as Madonna, while Kara Lundgren, Board of Trustee member closed out the night performing songs by Katy Perry and Cindy Lauper.
