Flip Flops, Mermaids and Fanta-Sea at Déjà Vu Beach Party benefitting Big Brothers Big Sister of Broward

The Hard Rock live was transformed into a tropical paradise on Saturday, November 1st as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County hosted its annual Déjà Vu event “Beach Party”. Sponsored by the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and Sixth Star Entertainment, the evening began with guests riding a jet ski into the reception and auction area themed with elaborate beachscapes including a mermaid in a clamshell, a living fountain, and even custom made coral fish tanks as table centerpieces.

The 500 guests rocked the night away as waves of sights and sounds with the Caribbean Chiller Band, Polynesian drums, dancers and breathtaking fire dancers. The evening was topped off with a full concert performance by The Romantics playing their hits and ending with THE anthem of the 1980’s “What I Like About You”

At the heart of the event was the recognition of select child advocates in South Florida. This year the event recognized Dawn Stagliano as the Child Advocate of the Year; Doug Jones – Déjà vu Legacy Award; Ultimate Software received the Visionary Corporation of the Year and Gale Butler was inducted into the Déjà vu Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for her decades of philanthropic work in the community.

All proceeds from the event directly benefit the children served by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County. The event co-chaired by Susan Renneisen and Alyssa Lovitt the event raised $215,000 in support of the programs and youth served by Big Brothers Big Sisters.
