Arc Broward brings on the girl power, glitz and glamour once again!

For more than 60 years, Arc Broward has worked to change the perception of individuals with disabilities and life challenges throughout the South Florida community through innovative programming such as the Miss Arc Broward Pageant.

On Sunday, November 11th at Parker Playhouse, 21 young women (ages 6-18) with disabilities shined bright as they showcased an array of talents during this unique pageant. An inspirational dance performance by the contestants to “The Is Me” by Keala Settle and The Greatest Showman Ensemble kicked off the pageant. Throughout the pageant, guests were able to see each contestant continue to take on the stage with confidence through talent, personality and evening wear presentations.

This year’s Miss Arc Broward recipient is Mahogani Gibson, 18 years old from Coral Springs, Florida, who is a teen girl with an intellectual disability. She loves the color purple and would love to travel to Mexico one day. Her talent performed was a dancing number to Kesha’s rendition of “This is Me.” You can view her magical moment when she was crowned Miss Arc Broward 2018 here. As Miss Arc Broward, Mahogani will advocate for girls in the community with disabilities and spread the message to thrive and embrace life’s challenges.

Little Miss Arc Broward, Grace Giol also received her crown at this one-of-a-kind pageant. Grace is a 10 year old girl with Autism from Davie, Florida who loves the color green and would like to travel to Spain. She performed “A Million Dreams” by Ziv Zaifman, Hugh Jackman and Michelle Williams while singing and playing the piano, accompanied by her dad playing the guitar.

About Arc Broward

For more than 60 years Arc Broward has worked hand-in-hand with our community, changing how people with disabilities and other life challenges are embraced and included.  This critical work ensures that people with disabilities, not only live, learn, work, and play in their communities, but more importantly, thrive. Arc Broward operates at 10 locations and provides 21 programs throughout Broward County, including its three pioneering Social Enterprises – Arc Educates, Arc Culinary and Arc Tech.  Each of these social enterprises offer in-demand services to the local South Florida market and are a source of earned income for Arc Broward, while at the same time serving as both a training ground for workforce development and potential future employment for adults with disabilities.
