It was an evening of unlimited laughter and never-ending punch lines, as nationally celebrated comedian Sarge! delivered a side-splitting comedy show for the Russell Life Skills and Reading Foundation, (RLSARF)

Presented by the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, the 7th annual event took place on Friday, September 19, at Dave and Busters Hollywood. All proceeds from the event benefited RLSARF
It is one of several annual events that raise funds for the free after school reading program the Foundation offers to disadvantaged children in Broward and Miami- Dade Counties.

“This partnership between The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Russell Life Skills and Reading Foundation spans several years of support and benefit to the underserved youth of this area”, commented Susan Renneisen, Hard Rock’s V.P of Community Affairs & Special Events, “and we are proud of the outcomes and positive impact that has been made in reducing illiteracy”

“We are deeply grateful to the Seminole Hard Rock as well as our other sponsors: Without community support, this Foundation would not be able to flourish in the way it has, providing assistance to children that really need it,” stated Twan Russell, founder of RLSARF. The event, which had nearly 100 guests, netted several thousand dollars for the organization

About the Russell Life Skills and Reading Foundation:
The Russell Life Skills and Reading Foundation (RLSARF) was established in 1998 by then-Miami Dolphins linebacker, Twan Russell, and his mother, Corliss, a middle-school teacher with a huge heart for helping struggling children. The Foundations objective is to raise awareness about the challenges that illiteracy causes in disadvantaged youth, as well as the lack of resources to address it. Our signature platform is after-school programs that meet two hours a day, four days a week. We match certified teachers with small groups of children to assess and instruct in the areas of phonics, vocabulary, math, science, reading comprehension and teaching children to use reading as an essential tool for lifelong learning. We serve economically disadvantaged children at no-cost to the families.
